# DSS-2 - Defensive Shotgun Shooting 2
Course Description:
This 8 hr course continues to build on the skills developed in # DSS-1 and applies use of the sling with carry deployment in a more mobile environment. The student will be challenged by engagement of multiple targets at varied distances, reloading, different shooting positions as well as use of cover/concealment. This is a dynamic program requiring physical mobility on the part of the student.

Classroom presentation covers a brief review of # DSS-1 Defensive Shotgun Shooting 1, a short introduction to tactics, use of cover/concealment, and mechanics of reloading.
Range covers use of the sling for carry/deployment, administrative and tactical reloading, using cover/concealment, shooting from various positions, single and multiple target engagement from varied distances.
Students will successfully complete a 20 round qualification course of fire (QCOF).

Course Equipment Requirements:
Student must have a standard modern shotgun that can fulfill the role as a defensive shotgun with sling or modern defensive shotgun with sling (shotgun and sling must be approved by instructor for this program) with applicable maintenance kit
Note: This is an advanced defensive shotgun shooting class, field grade, break-action and or antique arms are not feasible and therefore not permitted. Pump or semi-auto shotguns only (typical: 12 ga, 20 ga, .410 or possibly 16 ga)
- 00 Buck – 25 rds
- Birdshot – 50 rds (#6 or #7½ or #8)

- Tactical shotgun sling
- Quantity of 4 correct gauge of dummy or snap cap (inert) ammunition
- Small pad or towel for extra shoulder cushioning
- Notebook/notepad and pen/pencil
- Eye and ear protection is required
- Elbow and knee pads are recommended
- Baseball cap or brimmed hat
- Shirt with collar
- Sunscreen
- No sandals or open toe shoes
- Bring lunch, snacks and beverage(s) for hydration
- 100 rounds of shotgun ammunition consisting of:
- 00 Buck – 25 rds
- Birdshot – 50 rds (#6 or #7½ or #8)
