# CDHS - Consolidated Defensive Handgun Shooting
Course Description:
This is a "direct multi-level progression" defensive handgun shooting course conducted concurrently with NYS 47 hour Armed Security Guard training program trainees (see course descriptions in "Security Professionals" # 702 - NYS 47 Hr. Firearms Training Course for Armed Security Guards). The # CDHS student will be integrated with the security guard training school trainees for the duration of this course. The program incorporates a consolidation of the basic through intermediate training offered in FITG courses: # BHSF, # BDHS, # IDHS, (see course descriptions in "FITG Courses") and includes classroom coverage of NYS Article 35. The student will be required to pass a written exam on Article 35 and a NYS qualification course of fire (QCOF) to complete the program. This program is offered to the armed citizen at a discounted cost, and therefore does not provide the NYS Armed Security Guard certification.
Duration: 47-hrs; (6 days) over a period of approximately 4 to 6 weeks, on weekends.

Course Equipment Requirements:
- Revolver - must have at least two (2) speed loaders, although three (3) are recommended (have #3 as a spare) and a quality double speed loader belt pouch.
All firearms and supporting equipment (gun belts, holsters, mag pouches/ speed loader/pouches, etc.) used for this course must be approved by the instructor, for practicality, function and safety, in advance of attending the training. If you have questions, please call us, especially before you invest in any equipment.
- Must have a modern duty sized handgun or feasible for duty use with defined sights Reference by barrel length: - Revolver 3.0" - 5.0" - Semi-auto pistol 3.0" - 5.0"
- Caliber must be a duty caliber: [conventional] 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .38 Spl, [less conventional] .357 Sig, .45 GAP, 10mm (.357 magnum and .44 magnum not recommended)
- Must have a quality, strong side hip holster with at least Level 1 retention (cross draw, shoulder rigs, small of back, and ankle holsters are not allowed in this course) - holster must be of a rigid sturdy design. Flimsy nylon holsters are not allowed.
- If using a:
- Revolver - must have at least two (2) speed loaders, although three (3) are recommended (have #3 as a spare) and a quality double speed loader belt pouch.
- Sturdy belt or duty belt for holster
All firearms and supporting equipment (gun belts, holsters, mag pouches/ speed loader/pouches, etc.) used for this course must be approved by the instructor, for practicality, function and safety, in advance of attending the training. - Approximately 650 rounds of ammunition required
- Suitable firearm cleaning kit
- Eye and ear protection is required
- Elbow and knee pads are recommended
- Shooting gloves are optional
- Notebook/notepad and pen/pencil
- Baseball cap or brimmed hat
- Shirt with collar
- Sunscreen
- No sandals or open toe shoes
- Bring lunch, snacks and beverage(s) for hydration
